Women Deserve Better Medicine

Exhaustion, disrupted sleep, heart palpitations, unexplained weight gain. These are not simply signs of ageing. For too long, medicine has treated women using reference values derived from men.

Women were systematically underrepresented in clinical research for decades. That has consequences: symptoms are misread, risks are overlooked, and treatments are applied that were never designed with women’s biology in mind.

At the Centre for Women’s Health, we bring together gynaecology, cardiology, and internal medicine in a single consultation, treating women according to their actual biological needs.

Cardiovascular Prevention Tailored to Women

Heart disease is the leading cause of death among women, yet it remains underdiagnosed. Cardiovascular risk rises sharply after menopause, driven by changes in blood pressure, cholesterol levels, and body composition. Women who experience early menopause (before age 40) face an additional independent risk factor.

We believe in pragmatic prevention. We do not wait for the first cardiac event. We act before it happens.

Our multimodal prevention approach includes:

  • Body weight management and metabolic optimisation
  • Lipid-lowering therapy where elevated blood fats are present
  • Blood pressure management
  • Individualised hormone replacement therapy (HRT)
  • Medication-supported weight management, including GLP-1 receptor agonists

Modern Hormone Therapy: Individualized, Evidence-Based

Modern bioidentical hormone therapy has moved well beyond the treatments of previous decades. HRT is the most effective approach for managing vasomotor symptoms such as hot flushes and night sweats. It also protects against bone loss, improves sleep, stabilises mood, and relieves urogenital symptoms.

HRT is not a one-size-fits-all solution. Every treatment plan is developed with your individual risk profile in mind, considering cardiovascular history, family history, and personal preferences.

In November 2025, the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) removed blanket warnings about cardiovascular disease and breast cancer from hormone therapy labels, reflecting the growing body of evidence that supports individualised HRT when properly prescribed.

Bone Health: Protecting What You Cannot See

75% of osteoporosis patients are women. The primary cause is menopause: the loss of endogenous sex hormones leads to dramatic bone density decline in approximately one in four women. The disease progresses silently until a fracture occurs.

Risk factors include smoking, physical inactivity, vitamin D deficiency, and oestrogen decline. We identify risk early through bone density measurement (DXA), laboratory workup, and a thorough personal and family history.

Sexual Health and Vitality

Loss of libido, vaginal dryness, and reduced energy are common complaints, and they are treatable. Testosterone levels decline with age in women, with highly individual variation in how this is experienced.

We offer local and systemic HRT with oestradiol and progesterone, and in selected cases low-dose testosterone therapy (off-label). Urogenital symptoms such as dryness, pain during intercourse, and increased urinary frequency respond well to both local and systemic treatment approaches.

PCOS: Polycystic Ovary Syndrome

Irregular or prolonged cycles, acne, unwanted hair growth, hair loss, unexplained weight gain, fertility problems, prediabetes. These symptoms often appear together and point to PCOS (also referred to as PMOS: Polyendocrine Metabolic Ovarian Syndrome).

These are not lifestyle issues and they are not a personal failing. They are a recognisable clinical pattern that benefits from interdisciplinary evaluation and an individualised treatment plan.

A Lifespan Approach to Women’s Health

We support women across all life stages: from cycle disorders, PMS/PMDD, and PCOS, to infertility and premature menopause, through perimenopause and beyond.

Pregnancy complications such as gestational diabetes, hypertension, and preeclampsia are known predictors of future cardiovascular risk. Women with these histories deserve targeted follow-up, and we provide it.
