We specialize in microsurgical and minimally invasive treatment of brain, spinal cord, peripheral nerves and spine disorders.
One focus of our work lies in the treatment of patients with brain tumors, including patients in infancy, childhood and adolescence. Another focus lies on spine surgery for degenerative diseases.
Head and Vascular Surgery
- Microsurgical treatment of skull base processes, such as pituitary adenomas, meningiomas and chordomas, also in interdisciplinary collaboration with our ENT specialist
- Removal of acoustic neuromas, pineal tumors and cysts
- Removal of intraorbital tumors, also interdisciplinary with our specialists in ophthalmology
- Surgical treatment of cerebrovascular diseases such as aneurysms of the intracranial vessels, with and without previous subarachnoid hemorrhage and angioma
- Epilepsy surgery in temporal lobe epilepsy (amygdala-hippocamectomy) and extratemporal foci
- Treatment of vaious forms of hydrocephalus, applying the shunt procedure under use of programmable and non-programmable valve systems and endoscopic therapeutic procedures
- Surgical pain therapy, such as trigeminal neuralgia (decompression surgery after jannetta or thermocoagulation treatment), implantation of pain pumps and neurostimulators
- Omentum majus transplantation, in such cases as the moya-moya disease and degenerative diseases of the brain (alzheimer´s, Parkinson´s disease)
Spine surgery and peripheral nerves
- Microsurgical nucleotomy for lumbar, cervical and thoracic herniated disks
- Minimally invasive surgery for spinal stenosis or laminotomy
- PLIF with instrumentation including instability of the spine, in selected cases minimally invasive fixation system using the SEXTANT system
- Microsurgical discectomy and implantation of artificial discs for functional recovery or PEEK cages for fusion
- Implanting pain pumps and neurostimulators
- Surgical treatment of vertebral metastases via the vertebral body replacement
- Surgical treatment of peripheral nerve bottleneck syndromes and pathologies area of the plexus including transposition of nerves
Neurosurgery in children
- Treatment of all types of tumors (brainstem astrocytoma, ependymoma, PNET, pineal region tumors, craniopharyngiomas, optic glioma, choroid plexus papilloma)
- Treatment of congenital malformations such as Arnold-Chiari malformation or myelodysplaia/ spina bifida
